Nature Index Ranking 2024: Dindayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University is playing a significant role in providing high quality education in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Recently DDU Gorakhpur University received top position in nature index ranking in the state. It is a big achievement for students as well as the administration of the university which is leading by University in the state. Apart from this, Dindayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University have also received NAAC A++ ranking and funds under PM USHA scheme. 

Nature Index Ranking – 1 : DDU Gorakhpur 

The Nature Index ranks institutions and countries based on their research output in 82 leading science journals across disciplines like chemistry, life sciences, and physical sciences. It uses metrics like Article Count (AC), Fractional Count (FC), and Weighted Fractional Count (WFC) to assess contributions, with WFC adjusting for the quality of journals.

These rankings highlight leaders in global scientific research and are used to gauge research performance and collaborations. The authority prepared rank of the universities in the state for the session between 2023 and 2024. The Deendayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University got first rank in this Nature Index Ranking List and the Lucknow University is in the second position in this year. 

Vice chancellor message on this achievement

The vice chancellor of Dindayal Upadhyay University of Gorakhpur shrimati professor Punam Tandon informed about this achievement of the university to the media where she appreciated the performance of the teachers, researchers and students in the university. She said “These achievements are a testament to the exceptional work of our faculty, researchers, and students. We are honoured by these recognitions and remain committed to advancing our academic and research endeavours.”

Nature Index Ranking 2024- India

The Nature Index rankings provide a clear picture of the scientific contributions of Gorakhpur University and Lucknow University. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University (DDU) ranks 103rd among all higher education institutions in India and 47th among universities. Specifically, in physics, it ranks 57th among higher education institutions and 28th among universities.

In chemistry, DDU holds the 118th position among higher education institutions and 92nd among universities. Lucknow University, on the other hand, ranks 238th among all higher education institutions and 172nd among universities, but it did not make it into the chemistry rankings. Gorakhpur University’s contributions include important research in both chemistry and physics, with several publications in journals like the European Physical Journal C and Organic Letters. While both universities are recognized among state universities, Gorakhpur University’s higher ranking indicates that its contributions in science are more significant and far-reaching.

100 crore rupees grant from the government 

Recently the central government has provided 100 crore rupees grant to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University in Uttar Pradesh. The fund was granted to increase the research level and research work in the university and upgrade the infrastructure of the university. So the University have earlier provided good presentation and report to the central government to receive such grants and now is leading the State Universities worldwide.

NAAC A++ Ranking 

DDU Gorakhpur received A++ ranking from the NAAC. the NAAC A++ ranking is the highest grade given to Indian institutions that demonstrate top-quality education standards, scoring between 3.51 to 4.00 on a 4-point scale. It signifies excellence in areas like teaching, research, and infrastructure, enhancing the institution’s reputation and granting it greater autonomy. The accreditation lasts for five years.

In the Nature Index rankings, universities are evaluated based on their research output in high-quality science journals across disciplines like chemistry, life sciences, physical sciences, and earth and environmental sciences.

The evaluation primarily uses three metrics: Article Count (AC), which measures the total number of articles published by the university in selected journals; Fractional Count (FC), which accounts for the university’s share of each article when multiple institutions are involved; and Weighted Fractional Count (WFC), which adjusts the FC based on the journal’s quality and impact. These metrics together reflect the university’s contribution to cutting-edge scientific research, with a higher WFC indicating a stronger impact in the global scientific community.
