        Sub:  Award of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad (MAKA) Trophy for the years 2008-2009 & 2009-10.

        Ref:  Our earlier letter of even number dated January 27, 2010.     

Dear Sir/Madam,

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports vide letter No.F.9-22/2007-SPI dated 5.5.2008, granted the status of National Sports Promotion Organization (NSPO) to the AIU on account of its meritorious performance in the field of competitive sports.  This development not only elevated the status of “University Sports” at par with other National Sports Federations but also included University Sports in the Priority Category for the promotion of youth sports in the country. 

You are, therefore, requested to submit self calculated marks for the performance details of your university athletes/teams for processing the award of MAKA trophy for the year 2008-2009.  The contesting universities will claim credentials of their athletes/teams from 01.7.2008 to 30.6.2009.  The marks for the award of MAKA Trophy  for the year 2008-09 shall be computed as per old procedure and the marks for the year 2009-10 will be calculated on revised guidelines approved by the Sports Ministry for the tournaments organized by National Sports Federations  recognized by the IOA and Sporting Events covered in the Sports Calendar 2008-2009  and 2009-10 approved by Inter University Sports Board of India (AIU) .  Further self calculated points may kindly be filled in the following format for the purpose of uploading on the Web site of the AIU with a view to ensure absolute transparency in the process of  MAKA Trophy Award  latest by May 31, 2010, failing which no claim shall be entertained thereafter.

Finally, as per the decision of Inter University Sports Board of India (AIU) in its 21st^th Annual General Meeting held on April 13 , 2010 , top ten universities in order of their merits will be uploaded on AIU Web site and invited for Power Point Presentation of their claim of performance credentials before the MAKA Trophy Committee, followed by an interaction session for clarification of queries, if any.

Sub Eligibility Proforma for Participation in National University Games 2009-2010

Dear Sir/Madam,

           A copy of the Eligibility Proforma for submitting required  details of sportspersons representing various universities  for  participating in the National University Games 2009-2010 has already been placed on the AIU Web site.  The same can  be down loaded as per the requirement of your university, in this regard.. 

          We hope  this exercise will  ensure speedy communication  saving our valuable time, energy and  resources for  effective implementation  of the  N S P O  Scheme for the promotion of  sports in the university sector.

Sub:- India International Congress on Sport Psychology (ICSE-2009) from December 21-24, 2009 at Lakshmibai National University of Physical Education, Gwalior (M.P.)

Lakshmibai National University of Physical Education (LNUPE), Gwalior is organizing International Congress on Sports Psychology in partnership with Association of Indian Universities (AIU) from December 21-24, 2009. Another important feature of the mega event will be pre congress multiple topic workshops on December 19-20, 2009.

Being the National Organization, the AIU serve the universities in the field of competitive sports, academic activities and research in policy matters related to Higher Education in the country. In this regard, the AIU will provide technical and professional support to the LNUPE, Gwalior for making the mega event memorable and a grand success.

The organization of such International gatherings of experts will go a long way in the process of updating the professional knowledge and technical skills of the sports personnels working in universities and colleges enabling them to discharge their official responsibilities to the complete satisfaction of all stake holders.
